MOUNT VERNON — State Rep. Rick Carfagna has been busy with legislative hearings, and committee meetings, as well as attending conferences with constituents, stakeholders and other elected officials.

•In September, he hosted a visit to Rian Hall on the campus of Mount Vernon Developmental Center to spark a discussion as to possibly re-purposing the building as a regional center to combat the addiction and mental health crises in the state.

•He was the only state legislator to participate in a round table discussion with Rick Baum, acting director of the White House Office of National Drug Control. Carfagna said a good cross-section of stakeholders was in attendance, from administrators to first responders to caregivers. He said part of the discussion focused on the link between mental illness and addiction.
