NEWARK — Louis Frank “Louie” Hurps, 91, of Newark, died Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Center. He was born June 6, 1926 in Mt. Vernon to the late Charles and Edith Hurps.
Louis was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served during WWII. He enjoyed watching and rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds, and playing Euchre with his family.

He is survived by son, Richard (Anne) Hurps of Newark; daughter, Deborah Clary of Newark; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Charles) Brown, James (Donya) Clary, Anthony (Alicia) Hurps, and Richelle (Megan) Whitesed all of Newark; six great grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia Buxton of Urbana.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Juanita (Kenny) Hurps; three brothers; and two sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made in Louis’ name to Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430, Newark, OH 43058.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark where the funeral service will be Monday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Bob Byer officiating. Burial will follow the service in Homer Cemetery where military honors will be presented by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
