MOUNT VERNON — Judy L. Jewell, 70, of Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at the Newark Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Nov. 28, 1946, in Ashland, Ohio, to the late Harold and Euretabelle (Smith) Braden. Judy was a self-employed hair stylist for many years and owned the Curly Corner Beauty Salon here in Mount Vernon. She was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church and the Beta-Sigma-Phi Sorority. Judy was also a Girl Scout leader and Sunday School teacher.

Judy is survived by her daughters, Cassandra (John) Frazier Jr., Jennifer (James) Kendig; four grandchildren, Nicole Frazier, Veronica Leggett, A.J. Leggett, Katie Leggett; two great-grandchildren Zayne and Catherine Frazier; and her sister Robin (Robert) Burkhardt.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jewell; and her brother, Rodney Braden.

Friends may call Monday, Oct. 16, from 4-6 p.m., at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow beginning at 6 p.m. with Mr. John Frazier officiating. Burial will be held in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m.
