MOUNT VERNON — A lot of numbers were tossed around Thursday evening in the fifth Town Hall on the drug epidemic at Mount Vernon High School.

The presenters concentrated on the financial costs that have been incurred by EMS services, law enforcement, the courts and treatment and rehab, but the most startling number came in the presentations of Job and Family Services Director Matthew Kurtz and Children’s Services Administrator Scott Boone.

From January until today, 62 events have resulted in children being placed in JFS custody and there are currently 90 children in their care.
