MOUNT VERNON — Ned W. Fletcher, 86, of Mount Vernon, passed away at Brookdale Senior Living on Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, following an extended illness.

Born in Mount Vernon, Ned was a 1949 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. After graduation, Ned served in the United States Navy and then graduated from Miami University in 1957. Ned and his wife, Nancy, lived for a several years in New Jersey and then settled in Mount Vernon where Ned worked at Cooper Industries for 35 years, retiring in 1995. Ned enjoyed golfing, water skiing with his best friend Skip Parker and spending time with family and friends.

Ned is survived by his wife Nancy, whom he married May 29,1957; daughter Kelly (Kevin) Stough; sister Molly (Bruce) Schouten; brother-in-law Dan Wolfe; cousins Susan (Dick) Huggins, Dave (Carolyn) Nash; several special nieces, nephews, and friends; and special caregiver Vicky. He was preceded in death by his parents Encil and Mary (Ransom) Fletcher.

A private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice, 112 Harcourt Road, Suite 3, Mount Vernon OH.
