Bill Davis/News East Knox’s Drew Salyers, right, watches his tee shot on No. 18 at Wyandot Golf Course while Highland’s Gunner Oakley, left, looks on during the second Knox-Morrow Athletic Conference tournament on Saturday.

CENTERBURG — One year ago, Drew Salyers played golf for Mount Vernon, James Kirk was spending his weekends with family and East Knox varsity golf was just a memory.

This year, the Bulldogs are back on the golf course. And, as of Saturday, they reached a mark nearly unthinkable a few months ago.

Salyers, now wearing East Knox purple, was medalist at the second Knox-Morrow Athletic Conference tournament, held at Wyandot Golf Course in Centerburg. His Bulldogs finished in third place at the event, which gave them enough points to place third overall in the conference.
