MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets just would not be broken. The Jackets fought off a late effort by the Lexington Minutemen to win their first official Ohio Cardinal Conference game, 15-13, at Yellow Jacket Stadium on Friday evening.

The Mount Vernon defense, which came up big all night, stopped the Minutemen cold when they attempted a two-point conversion which would have tied the game with less than 90 seconds remaining in regulation. Mount Vernon linebacker Josh Hanna stopped Lexington’s Ben Vore short of the goal line to preserve the Jackets’ lead.
