MOUNT VERNON — Seeking a speedier solution than the Ohio Department of Transportation can provide, the Knox County Engineer’s office will look for outside funds to replace a failing bridge.

Engineer Cameron Keaton said Thursday at the Knox County Elected Officials meeting that he is looking at grants through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) for replacement of a bridge on Parrott Street. Keaton said if the bridge replacement were to go through ODOT, it would be about five years before the project starts.
