MOUNT VERNON — J. Clark Buxton, 82, of Mount Vernon, died Thursday evening, Aug. 24, 2017, at home surrounded by family. He was born April 4, 1935, in Mount Vernon, to the late Frederick and Evelyn (Jordan) Buxton.
Clark was a 1953 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and he honorably served his country in the Army. He was a member of the Newark Road Church of Christ and the Farm Bureau. Clark was a dairy farmer for over 50 years and just recognized by Governor Kasich for having a farm that has been in the same family of over 100 years.
Clark is survived by his children, Barry (Beth Ann) Buxton of Mount Vernon, Rhonda (Martin) Lant of Horseheads, N.Y., and Russell (Cheryl) King of Creston; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Gary Buxton of California.
In addition to his parents, Clark was preceded in death by his wife, Narita E. (Kemp) Buxton on Aug. 11, 2011; and brothers, Marvin and Richard Buxton.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 27, from 1-3 p.m., at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 28, with Minister Benjamin Driver officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Chapel Cemetery near Mount Vernon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or the Cancer Clinic at Knox Community Hospital in Clark’s memory.
