Freezer vanilla ice cream is a rich, creamy, custard-like dessert that can be made without the use of an ice cream maker. Freezer ice cream pairs well with pie, cake or can be used in an ice cream sundae. Request this photo

MOUNT VERNON — Who doesn’t love to eat homemade ice cream on a hot summer day? But the process of making ice cream at home can be rather complex. Thankfully, The Dairy, 300 Wooster Road, offers to sell their vanilla or chocolate ice cream base-mixes to any customers who would like to dust off their ice cream makers.

Michelle Graham has been making ice cream at The Dairy for the past three years. With these base mixes, she and other members of The Dairy alternate between making 67 different ice cream flavors, depending on the season.
