MOUNT VERNON — Do you ever feel like your vote doesn’t count?

During the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival in downtown Mount Vernon, visitors can vote for their favorite shelter dog.

In fact, this is an election that can be bought. Festival guests can vote as often as they like — with their pocketbook.

The shelter dogs that raise the most money will be featured in the 2018 Knox County Shelter Dog calendar, published by the Friends of the Knox County Animal Shelter organization. The dog with the highest dollar amount will be featured on the cover.

All donations will go toward needed medicine, medical care or supplies for the dogs at the shelter.
Plenty of qualified candidates will be available to choose from: German shepherd, coonhound, even a beagle, and no doubt a mixed breed or two as well.

Look for the booth outside Herald’s Appliances, 121 S. Main St., during the festival, Aug. 10-13, and cast your vote.
