GAMBIER — Ruth E. “Betty” Palmer, 81, of Gambier, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017, at her home. She was born Oct. 12, 1935, in Mount Vernon, to the late Francis and Hazel (Hayes) Blubaugh.

Ruth graduated from Mount Vernon High School. Later she became a Foster Parent for Knox County Schools. Ruth enjoyed hunting and fishing and would fish at Knox Lake along with Foundation Park.

She is survived by her sons, Michael McManis of Mount Vernon and Andrew McManis of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Kleer of Howard; nieces, Kathy Kleer and Karen (Rick) Reddick; and nephew, David Kleer.

Besides her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Palmer; sister, JoAnne Blubaugh; and brother, Ronald Blubaugh.

A private celebration of life service will take place at a later date.
