MOUNT VERNON — After experiencing a rejuvenating Himalayan salt spa in Columbus, entrepreneur Rod Mowery decided to open a salt spa of his own, right here in Mount Vernon.

“I fell in love with it,” Mowery told the News, after his experience with a Columbus spa. “I was really looking for a new business at the time, so it just really struck me well.”

A few weeks ago, Harmony Salt Spa, 116 W. High St., opened its doors to the community. Just inside the spa’s front doors is a small boutique, which sells organic bath salts, soaps, bath bombs, facial masks, skin care products and dozens of glowing, ethereal-looking, hand-carved Himalayan salt lamps, ranging in weight from 3-100 pounds each.
