MOUNT VERNON — Rylan Firebaugh is preparing for his fifth Little League All-Star baseball tournament.

Firebaugh is one of about a half-dozen players on the Mount Vernon 12-under roster to have played on every team since 8U. He and his teammates have formed a unique bond over the years — a bond that’s strong enough that they know how to put baseball in its proper perspective.

“We like to have fun — mess around sometimes, get in some trouble during practice,” Firebaugh said. “Not too much trouble.”

The Mount Vernon 12U All-Stars begin their quest for a state title in the District 5 Tournament, which starts Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Phillips Park. The tournament continues
