Cheers and applause filled the gymnasium at the Knox County Career Center on Thursday as proud family members celebrated the achievements of the 26 adults who earned general educational development diplomas.

Firefighters were hosing down the pile to put out the fires. Mount Vernon Fire Chief Chad Christopher said the cause is still under investigation. They were on the scene from the time of the call at 4:36 p.m. until 8:05 p.m. Mutual aid came from Fredericktown and Central Ohio Joint Fire District with engines and Utica EMS.

Fredericktown board members attend state leadership event

Three Fredericktown school board members — Candi Gallagher, Todd McClay and Patty Miller — recently graduated from the Ohio School Boards Association Board Leadership Institute, a professional development event.
The institute is an intensive two-day training program designed exclusively for public school board members.
