MOUNT VERNON — Burdetta Sue Ross, 75, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Morrow County Hospital in Mt. Gilead.

She was born on Oct. 31, 1941, in Mount Vernon, and was the daughter of the late Irvin Robert and Margaret Elizabeth (Mansfield) Brooks.

Sue was a meticulous seamstress and ran her business from the Singer Sewing Store on Vine Street in Mount Vernon. She attended Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene and was also a 25-year liver transplant recipient.

Sue is survived by a family that she loved and that loved her back; a brother, Ned (Barbara) Brooks of Wooster; two sisters, Ann (Paul) Griffis of Springfield, Illinois, and June (Paul) Sipes of Mansfield. Even though she had no children of her own, she loved and poured into her nieces and nephews. She was often called the “favorite aunt” by Michael Sipes, Lisa Smythe, Becky Steensland, Angie Compton, Pam Bortner, Beth Jones, Richard Brooks and Susan Campean; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends may call on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lasater Funeral Home, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road in Mount Vernon, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
