Matthew D. Bigboy

MOUNT VERNON — After being sentenced in Mount Vernon Common Pleas Court, a Johnstown man made it as far as the parking lot before being caught violating his probation.

Matthew D. Bigboy, 22, was arrested less than an hour after being sentenced June 16 to three years of community control on one count of aggravated possession of drugs in Knox County Common Pleas Court.

According to Mount Vernon Police reports, Bigboy was observed by police at 9:56 a.m. in a vehicle parked near the courthouse tying a cloth strip around his arm in apparent preparation to inject himself with drugs. When Bigboy was approached by police, he appeared to be under the influence of drugs, the report stated. However, no syringe was found, and court records indicate police believe Bigboy ingested drugs without the use of a syringe.

Bigboy consented to a search and a kit used to fake urine drug tests was found, according to MVPD reports.

Bigboy was one of several defendants scheduled to appear in common pleas court that morning, which begins at 9 a.m. Bigboy had met with his probation officer immediately after sentencing that morning. He had not been subjected to a urine test before leaving the courthouse, according to court records.

Bigboy was placed under arrest and his probation was revoked in an order filed that same day. The probation violation has not yet been scheduled for a hearing.
