HOWARD — Daniel Mehl “Dan” Crowthers, 61, of Howard, died Thursday, June 22, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family. Dan was born Nov. 2, 1955, in Mount Vernon, to William E. “Bill” and Frances E. (Mehl) Crowthers. He was a 1974 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and had earned certification as an ASE Master Mechanic and certified as a Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning technician.
Dan was a faithful member of Berean Faith Fellowship in Mount Vernon, a member of Ohio Lodge 199 Free and Accepted Masons, and Colonial City Moose Lodge. He loved to fly and was receiving instruction to earn his private pilot’s license. He loved to figure out how things worked and was considered a “Master Tinkerer” by friends and family. Though Dan had many hobbies, his greatest joy in life was sharing time with family and friends. With Daniel he never knew a stranger. He will be deeply missed by all, he loved everyone. Daniel loved and lived life to its fullest. He always gave of his time to help those in need.
Surviving are his wife, “the love of his life” Victoria “Vicki” (Butler) Crowthers; his daughter, Darla (Everado) Gonzalez and their children Jaime Gonzalez and Elena Gonzalez. His son Brian Crowthers his children Ethan Crowthers and Addison Crowthers (their mother Minna Crowthers) and Kayla Crowthers (her mother Sarah Salyer). Dan’s brother David (JoEllynn) Crowthers and Dan’s sister Terry L. (Rick) Williams also survive. Dan was preceded in death by his parents and his son Michael Charles Crowthers.
Friends may call Sunday, from 1-4 p.m., at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bruce Butler and Pastor Gordy Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Mound View Cemetery.
