FREDERICKTOWN — The dream is to don a Fredericktown Freddies varsity uniform and run out onto the basketball court in front of cheering crowds. That dream starts with fundamentals and hard work.

More than two dozen girls with the same idea took part in the Fredericktown girls basketball camp this week. Fredericktown varsity girls basketball coach Jim Lester packs as many drills and fundamentals as he can into the camp, which was held in the Fredericktown High School gymnasium.

“The whole goal is to teach some basic drills and skills and still have some fun,” Lester said. “We do a lot of skills and a lot of drills.”

With 30 kids ranging from grades 3-7, Lester has to work with kids that have a variety of skill levels.
