MOUNT VERNON — In what is characterized as not quite a barricade situation, a Mount Vernon man was arrested Sunday after police forced their way into his residence.

Richard A. Cantu, 22, Mount Vernon, was arrested by Mount Vernon police on a probation violation at a 400 block North West Street residence. According to MVPD reports, officers were summoned to the residence at 11:41 a.m. on a possible domestic violence incident. Upon arrival, the woman who reported the alleged assault had left the residence. It was determined that Cantu was inside and had an outstanding warrant, and officers proceeded to attempt to arrest Cantu.
