MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County tennis community took another step forward on Saturday, while honoring its past. The Frank Giampaolo Single-Day Showdown Tennis Tournament, named in honor of the international tennis coach, best-selling author, speaker and former Mount Vernon resident Frank Giampaolo, drew tennis talent from in and out of the area.

Among the winners were locals Matthew Dinnen, who won the boys 18 and under title, and Kristin Conrad, who was runner up in the girls 16 and under class.
