GAMBIER — Nick K. “Remi” Remillard, 20, of Gambier, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 11, 2017. He was born April 15, 1997, in Newark, Ohio, the son of Neil F. Remillard and Melanie (MacMaster) Remillard. Nick was a 2015 graduate of East Knox High School where he played baseball. In his senior year Nick led the team in strikeouts with 41.

He was also a member of the East Knox FFA and Creative Kids 4-H Club. Most recently Nick was very active with the Gambier dog park and was beginning his own dog sitting business. He will always be remembered as a kind and compassionate young man that always filled the room with laughter and cheer. Nick never met a stranger and will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

Nick is survived by his mother, Melanie (MacMaster) Remillard; two brothers, Matthew (Emily) Remillard of Mount Vernon and Andy (Shannon) Remillard of Hartsgrove, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Emery, Aree and Delaney Remillard, Jackson and Stella Remillard; maternal grandmother, Sally Parsons of Gambier; paternal grandmother, Shirley Remillard of North Adams, Massachusetts; aunts and uncles, Richard and Kathy Remillard, Dennis and Kathy Remillard, Lisa Remillard and Scott and Denise Remillard; and cousins, Zac, Cody and Michael Remillard. Nick is also survived by his beloved canine companion Apollo.

He was preceded in death by his father, Neil F. Remillard in 2011; a cousin, Amy Remillard; maternal grandfather, Carroll MacMaster; and paternal grandfather, Donat Remillard.

Friends may call Friday from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A funeral service will be held on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 102 College Park St., Gambier. The Rev. Rachel Kesler will be officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Gambier.
