MOUNT VERNON — A school playground, city park and depot were vandalized over the June 10 weekend.

According to Mount Vernon police reports, the CA&C Depot, Ariel-Foundation Park and Pleasant Street Elementary had graffiti applied with paint and chalk. The graffiti was found at the three locations between 3:30 a.m. June 9 and 8:17 p.m. June 10.

The graffiti at the depot was done in chalk, and “red paint or fake blood” was on a table, thrown on the side of the building and on the ground, according to reports. Graffiti was also carved into a table.
Scott Zimmerman, Ariel-Foundation park manager, said the graffiti was spray-painted on the towers and sidewalk in The Ruins section of the park.
