MOUNT VERNON — Kenneth W. Heinlen, 71, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born Dec. 9, 1945, in Bucyrus, to the late Carl Heinlen and Juanita (Adams) Robinson. Kenneth was the past owner and operator of Patriot Mortgage and later served as a contractor for CenturyLink. He was a member of the American Legion in Delaware. Kenneth enjoyed mowing his yard and metal detecting. But most of all, he loved the time he spent with his family. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, of over 48 years, Cheryl (Wagner) Heinlen; son, Scott (Kenzie) Heinlen; daughter, Jennifer Waller; three grandchildren, Adelle, Collin and Caleb Heinlen; brother, Leonard Heinlen; sister, Carol (Mike) Myers; uncle, Lowell (Kathy) Adams; brother-in-law, Larry (Betty) Wagner; sister-in-law, Gwen (Tony) Verrengia; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will observe a private memorial service at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council.
