MOUNT VERNON — On Sunday’s warm evening, surrounded by wildflowers, fields and woodlands, Trent and Missy Kaufman hosted The First Presbyterian Church of Mount Vernon’s Youth Fellowship Grill and Chill at their property known as Camp Runamuck, 10320 Tucker Road.

In addition to countless trees and wild grasses, the Kaufmans’ 56-acre campground houses a chapel, a sugar-shack for making maple syrup, Boy Scout camping areas, a life-sized checkerboard, a pond and a pavilion, which served as the site for the cooking competition.

Beth Ruth, youth fellowship volunteer at FPC and coordinator of the cooking competition, was thrilled to be able to create an outdoor event that involved both youth and adult members of the church.
