CENTERBURG — Joan E. Mahan, 69, of Centerburg, died Friday morning, June 9, 2017, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

She was born on July 10, 1947, in Columbus, the daughter of the late Robert and Georgia (Mitchell) Hatten.

Joan was a 1965 graduate of Centerburg High School and used to work at the sand and gravel pit in Mount Vernon.

She was a member of Centerburg United Methodist Church where she played organ, sang in the choir and played bells.

Joan also enjoyed feeding the birds, but most important was her family and she especially loved watching her granddaughters play sports.

She will be missed by her son, Darren, and his wife Lori of Circleville; her granddaughters, Kylee and Caitlyn; her sister, Ruth Ann Graham of Worthington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Hankins-Hatten.

Friends may call on the family on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, from 5-8 p.m., at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 North State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074. Friends may also call one hour prior to the funeral services which will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m., at the Centerburg United Methodist Church, 65 S. Hartford Avenue, Centerburg, OH 43011. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
