MOUNT VERNON — Arthur W. Davis, 92, of Mount Vernon, passed away June 7, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Grundy, Virginia, to the late William and Alafair (McLanahan) Davis. Arthur was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army and worked at Kenyon College for many years.

Arthur is survived by his daughters, Nancy (Garcil) Sanders of Mount Vernon, Sue (Daniel) Harris of Mount Liberty; sons, Bob (Ethel) Davis, Gene (Dixie) Davis, Don (Diane) Davis, Doug (Earlene) Davis all of Mount Vernon; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren, along with their loyal dog, Babe.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Davis; infant daughter, Juanita; brother, Cecil Davis; sister, Medabelle Hunt; and a grandchild, Dawna Davis.

A celebration of life service will be held for Arthur and his late wife Gladys at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Arthur W. Davis.
