MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon emergency service personnel were dispatched to the Knox County Jail on Saturday for a call of an individual in cardiac arrest.

Mount Vernon Fire Chief Chad Christopher said today that EMS personnel dispatched to the jail performed CPR on an individual and transported them to the hospital. CPR continued during transport, Christopher said.

CPR was underway at the jail when EMS personnel arrived, Christopher said.
