COLUMBUS — Makayla Rolince hoped her appearance in state track would be in the long jump.

At this point, she’ll take her experience in the 200.

Rolince, seeded 13th among the 16 participants in the Division III 200-meter sprint at the OHSAA State Track and Field Championships Friday, finished second in her heat and automatically qualified for today’s finals.

“I am so happy,” Rolince said after her race. “I was looking at the times before the race, and I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it.”

Rolince will be joined today by the Centerburg boys 4×200 relay team, which finished eighth overall in their preliminaries. All races were held at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State University.

The top two participants in each heat advanced to the finals, along with the five next-fastest times.
