MOUNT VERNON — Cheers and applause filled the gymnasium at the Knox County Career Center on Thursday as proud family members celebrated the achievements of the 26 adults who earned general educational development diplomas during the 2016-17 school year and/or obtained industry credentials and increased their work force skills.

After the invocation by Knox Technical Center student success coordinator Diane Shew and welcome and introductions by Aspire coordinator Barbara Harris, T.J. Armstrong, Ohio Higher Education Aspire state program manager, congratulated the graduates for aspiring to succeed, for following through and having an impact by inspiring their fellow classmates and others to follow through, too.
