MOUNT VERNON — The city’s Board of Zoning Appeals approved a variance to allow Aldi’s to have a larger sign on its new building, but the store had to agree to drop the “Food Market” it wanted to add to the signage.

Aldi’s real estate director for Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky, Russ White, said they are expanding the building to accommodate the expanded line of products they are offering, and modernizing the lighting, refrigeration and other systems in the store.
