MOUNT VERNON — While spending some time up north visiting family this past week, I had the opportunity to engage in one of my favorite outdoor activities — fishing.
At dusk, while sitting at the edge of the dock, listening to the lulling sounds of crashing waves and watching the sun’s waning light glitter across the water, I suddenly realized my florescent orange bobber had disappeared from sight.
After several exciting minutes of struggling to reel in my line, a large catfish emerged from the lake.
My husband, as thrilled as I was, scrambled up the dock to show our family what I caught; he then immediately cleaned the fish and stored it in the refrigerator. The next day, we happily served the large oven-fried catfish at our family lunch.
