MOUNT VERNON — This Memorial Day, allow your family and friends to stay cool under the warm, May sunshine by snacking on a homemade red, white and blue ice cream cake! This simple cake recipe utilizes blueberries, strawberries and vanilla ice cream to produce a festive, American-flag inspired design that is sure to create a refreshing treat for the whole family.
When making a homemade ice cream cake, Christa Brady, an employee at Whit’s Frozen Custard, 500 S. Main St., recommends using Cool Whip as the cake’s frosting.
