MOUNT VERNON — A Mount Vernon man was so moved by the events surrounding 9/11 that he left his sales career, and his family, to train for border patrol.
The gentleman, who prefers to be addressed as John Doe, spoke to the Exchange Club on Friday about his training, experiences and his thoughts on a border wall.
“I never considered government service,” Doe said. “I thought government was to be feared, ignored or hated.”
After five months at the academy in New Mexico and another five months on the job, Doe moved his family to Texas as he continued his field training program.
