MOUNT VERNON — Two sisters gave differing statements Thursday in a jury trial in which a Fredericktown man is accused of striking his daughter in the mouth.

James E. Fox III, 28, is contesting charges of domestic violence and assault in a two-day jury trial in Mount Vernon Municipal Court. Fox is charged with striking his 6-year-old daughter in February, causing injury to her lip and knocking loose a tooth.

The injury allegedly occurred while the daughter was at Fox’s home on visitation over the weekend of Feb. 5.
