MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Career Center school board on Thursday confirmed a 2 percent base salary pay raise for teachers, classified staff, administrators, maintenance supervisors, technology coordinators, preschool coordinator and administrative assistants. The treasurer and superintendent also received the increase.

The raise was part of the negotiated agreement with the KCCC Staff Association, and, said Superintendent Kathy Greenich, the staff deserves the increase. They have been working diligently to hold down expenses, she explained, and to perform the extra duties they have undertaken as a result of previous staff reductions due to attrition. (People who retire or resign are not necessarily replaced, and remaining staff must take up the slack.)
