MOUNT VERNON — A funeral service for Duane K. (Burrhead) Brown, 93, of Mount Vernon, will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 22, at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica, with Thom Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, April 21, at the funeral home.

Mr. Brown passed away April 18, 2017, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon. He was born June 30, 1923, in Mount Vernon, to the late Chester and Pansy (Morey) Brown.

Brownie was a lifelong farmer, a 3rd generation glass cutter who worked at PPG Industries and retired from Buckeye Union Insurance, Columbus. He was a 79 year member of Morgan Grange and a Past Master. Duane was also a member of Beulah Methodist Church and the Agricultural Museum of Mount Vernon.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Betty K. Brown of Mount Vernon; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Stella Brown of Burkburnett, Texas, Doran Brown of Mount Vernon, Tyler and Mickey Brown of Mount Vernon; daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Gary Hines of Mount Vernon, Kimberly and Carl Ward of Utica; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Tara Brown; brother, James Brown; and sisters, Mariam Hampshire, Janice Barrick.
