New culverts are being installed on Wally Road in northeastern Knox County. The effort is part of the project to pave four miles of the road, essential to the recreation area. Digging around an old natural gas line, Mike Gearhart signals with his hand to the backhoe operator, Mike Feasel, where to dig the trench for the new pipe. Also working Tuesday were crews cutting back an embankment and trimming trees. With that work complete, the road will be widened and resurfaced. The road will be closed daily for work until May 4.
