MOUNT VERNON — Warner “Gene” Crowe, 77, of Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017, at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. He was born June 1, 1939, in Connersville, Indiana, the son of Wavel and Marjorie (Beck) Crowe. Gene served in the Army National Guard. He retired in 1995 after 30 plus years with United Telephone and Sprint. Gene enjoyed golfing and fishing and was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals and Reds.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lillian (Scanlon) Crowe; his children, Markettys (Keith) Dailey of Newark, Timothy (Rhonda) Crowe of Mansfield and Jeffrey (Brandie) Crowe of Browns Summit, North Carolina; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Crowe and Jesse Crowe; and three sisters, Mary Case, Lucille Grizzell and Lavetta Crowe.

Friends may call Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Christ the King Community Church, 15598 McClelland Road, Fredericktown, where a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Rev. Lucian Baker will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.

Memorial contributions in Gene’s name may be made to Christ the King Community Church or Hannah’s Haven, 5432 Yanceyville Road, Browns Summit, NC 27214.
