Gordon “Dynie” Fawcett passed away quietly in his home March 18, 2017, surrounded by his family.
He was born Feb. 22, 1931, in Martinsburg, Ohio, to the late Lundy R. and Grace L. (Davis) Fawcett. He graduated from Bladensburg High School.
He retired from the Miller Lighting Company, and later, Columbia Gas, but held many other jobs during his life. He was a very talented sign painter and he co-owned a sports shop in Utica. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Ohio State Buckeyes, but his passion was golfing and he was awesome at it.
He enjoyed a good practical joke, playing cards, and fishing. In recent years, he really liked spending time in the Amish community. He had a great time selling produce and just talking to people. He never met a stranger.
Gordon was a member of The First Baptist Church of Utica and a 32nd Degree Mason. He loved his family more than anything and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Marjorie (Lahmon) Fawcett; one son, Gary (GiGi) Hendrickson; three daughters, April Clark, Debra (Rick) Stringer of Tennessee and Linda (Chuck) Chaloupka of Florida; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph “Lynn” and one sister, Rosalea Vance. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace (Davis) and Lundy Fawcett; two brothers, Gene and Harold “Pudge” Fawcett; and two sisters, Betty Ramsey and Anna Wolfe.
