COLUMUBUS — Not many high school wrestlers get to end their careers on a high note.

Highland’s Zach Baker finished his with a bang.

Baker won his final match via pin, enabling him to finish fifth overall in the Division II state meet at 220 pounds.

“It felt amazing, especially to go out in my last high school match with a pin,” Baker said. “Fifth is not quite what I wanted, but I will take it.”

Baker took just 41 seconds to put Jefferson’s Austin Norris on the mat, giving the Highland senior his 48th pin for the season. That matched the record he set last year, and his 54th victory for the season broke the Highland High School record of 52 wins Mike Stewart set a couple years ago.
