MOUNT VERNON — On Thursday evening, dozens of locals gathered for an open house event held at the MTVarts Warehouse, 14 E. Ohio Ave. Featured during the evening were guided tours of the newly-remodeled location, a jazz-band ensemble and a wine bar with a large assortment of cheeses, fruit, and other treats.
The warehouse became a permanent home for MTVarts a couple years ago. Since that time, extensive renovating, organization and decoration has taken place in the building. The warehouse has acquired a new HVAC, floor-to-ceiling shelving for organization and storage, and a large, outdoor mural on the side of the building. The mural, painted by John Donnelly, an art professor at the Mount Vernon Nazarene University, colorfully tells the history of theater in a linear, fluid, left-to-right direction. Funding for the painting was provided by Ariel Corporation.
