MOUNT VERNON — Hospice of Knox County, a member of Hospice of North Central Ohio, has received a grant in the amount of $1,000 through the Youth Philanthropy Initiative program at The Community Foundation of Mount Vernon and Knox County. The grant will be used to provide funding for use in the Scentsy Buddy project supervised by Bereavement Coordinator Kathy Wantland.

The objective of the Scentsy Buddy project is to provide children and teens comfort while coping with the loss of a loved one through death. Often youth experience losses that are sudden and, in some cases, tragic. As a result of this grant, each child and teen in the Scentsy Buddy project will be given a stuffed therapy animal to keep.

HNCO serves those dealing with chronic or terminal illnesses or the loss of a loved one. Special attention is given to children including two summer camp programs. For more information on grief support services, contact Wantland at Hospice of Knox County at 740-397-5182.
