FREDERICKTOWN — Council is working on acquiring private property to mitigate landslides on the Owl Creek Trial.

Fredericktown Council has voted to purchase two lots off North Pleasant Street and East First Street that, once properly graded, should put an end to landslides threatening the slopes and surface of the right of way along the trail.

The purchase is still in the contract phases, Village Administrator Bruce Snell said. Council has voted to purchase the property from Terry and Trudy Tharp for $20,000, to be paid in two annual installments of $10,000.
