MOUNT VERNON — In December, Kay Spergel, director of Mental Health and Recovery of Licking and Knox Counties, said they were in the process of finding a suitable location for a recovery house in Knox County.

They have pinpointed a possible location and will be going to the city Board of Zoning Appeals for a conditional use permit to establish the house at 302 E. High St., an area that is zoned office/institutional.

Spergel said in December that Mental Health and Recovery would purchase a house and the Freedom Center would operate it and provide the recovery coach.

Conditional permit allows for residential use of property

To operate a recovery house at 302 E. High St., as proposed by Mental Health and Recovery for Licking and Knox County, will apparently require a conditional use permit because the area is zoned office/institutional.

The Mount Vernon Board of Zoning Appeals will meet on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. An incorrect time was published in Monday’s edition. The News regrets the error.
