UTICA — Kathy I. “Cookie” Lewis, 64, of Utica, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 8, 2017, at her home with her loving family at her side.

Born May 24, 1952, in Newark, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Wilma (Breeden) Evans Newlon. Mrs. Lewis attended the Bladensburg Church of Christ and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Kathy was also a loving foster mother for many, many children over the years.

Surviving is her loving husband of over 48 years, Dan Lewis whom she married Sept. 2, 1968; two sons, Travis Lewis and Trevor Lewis, both of Utica; five daughters, Tina (Damon) Kent of Howard, Tila (Nathan) Elliott of Martinsburg, Tara (David) Lewis of Utica, Tylena Lewis of Mount Vernon and Tanesha Lewis of Utica; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Evans of Martinsburg and Steve (Linda) Evans of Newark; two sisters, Lynda Maidel and Betty (Mel) Shipley, both of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy Lewis; a brother, Jerry Evans; and her stepfather, James Newlon.

Calling hours will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third St.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at the funeral home with Pastor Bart Rine officiating. Burial will be in Smith Chapel Cemetery.
