MOUNT VERNON — Ohio Eastern Star Home’s First Annual Groundhog Day Celebration took a non-traditional approach to the day that typically confronts the country to six more weeks of winter.

Instead of using an actual groundhog during the ceremony, staff member Michelle Garcia brought her dachshund, Tootsie, to partake in the event.

“Our awesome life enrichment team (is) very creative,” Cyndi Wyatt, director of marketing at OESH, said before the event. “They have such great energy and ideas. They’re always thinking of fun, new ideas.”
