MOUNT VERNON — Saturday morning, the Mount Vernon YMCA was abuzz with nearly 100 Knox students and parents, ready to celebrate the winners of the Crunch Out Obesity “How I Am Healthy” Essay Contest, sponsored by United Way.

“Crunch Out Obesity is a six-week nutrition and physical exercise program and we were so excited to say that this year, with our fall program, we were in every Knox county school, including Saint Vincent,” Lisa Rutter, the program coordinator from United Way, said. “I think that’s pretty amazing. We’re excited that East Knox school joined us this year and Centerburg schools.”
