MOUNT VERNON — Due to the cancelation in December, this Sunday, Jan. 15, at 9:30 a.m., the choir at Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene, 16001 Glen Road, Mount Vernon, will present its Christmas musical “And There Was Light,” a compilation of varied and exciting Christmas selections for both the adult and children’s choirs.

Elizabeth Barrett leads the children in “What a Glorious Night.” The congregation sings along on a carol medley in the Celtic style — “The Carolin’ Reel.” The production is accompanied by a 30-piece orchestra which will also perform a “Bells of Christmas” overture, all under the direction of Robert Tocheff, also director of the annual Mount Vernon Nazarene University Messiah event and Collegians Chorale.

PowerPoint and video have been prepared by Judy Madtes and Geoff Fuller. Narration will be presented by Jim and Carol Dorough. Soloists include Shawn Barrett, Mel Severns, Judy Madtes and Laura Tappen. Drama vignettes with Mary and Joseph are portrayed by Kimberly and Jonathan Reed. Some of the songs include “The Sound of the Round,” “Rejoice with Exceeding Great Joy,” “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen,” “The Light Still Shines,” and a bluegrass piece “Go Sing It on the Mountain.”

The presentation is free to the public. Nursery care is provided as well as ample parking.
