MOUNT VERNON — County Engineer Cameron Keaton met with the county commissioners Thursday to update them on his department’s plans for the coming year.

Keaton told the commissioners the size of the engineer’s staff hasn’t changed, although some duties have been shifted around.

Tim Tyson, who began work this month after being hired away from the city, is filling the slot vacated by Assistant to the Engineer Larry Bechtel, who retired in May. Tyson will officially be the project manager.

Keaton said he is also planning to do more engineering work in-house to save money on engineering contract fees.
